The Yamaha Corporation did not start off making dirt bikes they originally built pianos. Over the years, they have branched out to other products like electronics, musical instruments, home computers and computer products. It was not until the Genichi Kawakami, the CEO, decided to make use of Yamaha's engineering skills to expand their product line into motorized devices. In August 1854, they had completed their first road bike, the Yamaha YA-1. By July 1955 Yamaha Motor Co, Ltd was established. However, it took until 1968 for them to develop one of their first Yamaha dirt bikes. Their first, dirt bike was a DT-1 two stroke 250cc enduro bike. Their claim to fame is that this bike was designated as the first, true off-road motorcycle.

They continued to build their dirt bikes with only slight modification until environmental concerns sent them back to the designing board. In 1997 they designed the YZ400F, which was the first four-stroke motocross bike. Since that time, they have been designing Yamaha dirt bikes to fit anyone's riding style. They have bikes that were designed for kids, and beginners. The PW50 and the TT-R50E were both built for smaller framed riders. They both come with a feature that will enable adults to control the bikes speed until the rider becomes more secure. Their TT-R90E and the TT-R125E models were also built for young riders, but without the feature to control the bikes speed. Therefore, these bikes should be reserved for those young riders that have more experience.

Yamaha dirt bikes designed their WR450F and WR250F models, for the serious competitive rider. They were designed with agility and speed in mind. They are perfect for off road trails, and fantastic for jumps and maneuvers. These models were designed for those motocross riders that can handle speed and rough terrain with confidence.

Yamaha is a brand name that is known throughout the industry. They have a great reseller value and well worth the investment.
